Helping Distracted Fathers Step Into the Man they were
Called to Be.

When you are in alignment with who you were called to be, you become unshakable.  Many of us dads beleive the lies we've learned along the way.

Lies about who you are and who you are not.
Your past is part of the story, it's not the end of the story.

If you feel like you've been just splashing around in the water, trying to steer your canoe in a new direction only to be stuck going in circles then
you're in the right place.

My daughter is 9 and my son is 4, and they still ask if I can play, less and less with my daughter, but I'm doing everything I can to say YES when they do as I've noticed the reluctedness to ask now because of how many times they get the "maybe later" line.  If you're starting a family or you're like me and growing your family but realize there are so many distractions and things to take our time as fathers, and simply want to be more intentional with your journey as a dad, I'd like to invite you to do life with us.

Things started changing for me when I said YES.  I'll never forget the day my daughter told me she was going to be in the homeschool enrichment talent show.  It was 2 weeks away when she told me and had no idea what to do, other than the fact she told her friends she would be in the show.  Follow along on our social accounts as I'm sharing the story there.

My name is Dusty, but my birth name is Dustin.

Valliant Fighter

Brave Warrior

A fighter

These are attributes and definitions of the name I was given at birth.  It didn't take long for my mind to attach other identities to who I thought I was though, quickly forgetting about who I was called to be.

It's taken me 37 years to get to this moment.  I'll be sharing my story with you all that includes everything from church hurt, to the brink of divorce, to God pursuing my heart, to a miracle, to extremely hard times that tested our faith more than ever before, to battling addictions and being set free, to suddenly moving our family from Colorado to Tennessee.

I am inviting a group of guys that want to say YES to the call of being an intentional dad with a focus on simply being better than you were yesterday.  Despite generational curses and setbacks.  It's up to us to FIGHT for what it means to be a "Good Father."

I hope you'll join me on this Valliant Voyage as we show up for our families.

Retreats and Live Events in a Substance Free Environment

On Sept 25th, 2022 I attended a retreat that changed my life.  I was the guy that would drink 2-3 double IPAs a day out of habit, I felt like I needed a buzz to kick it but really it was my crutch to simply handle life.

I'll share the full story with you when we meet but I've experienced life with alcohol and I can say that without, it's simply much better.

This is not an AA meeting, I've actually never been to one FYI
I simply want to create a safe place where we can be real with each other with unclouded minds.

Meaningful Memories

Without the haze of substances, every moment, every conversation, every bond formed is remembered and cherished.

Genuine Connections

Substances can sometimes mask our true feelings and emotions. By creating a substance-free environment, we promote genuine connections and deeper conversations.

Safety & Comfort

A substance-free environment ensures safety for all attendees and fosters a more inclusive space, especially for those who may not drink for personal, cultural, or health reasons.

True Reflection & Growth

This is a time of transition and growth for dads looking to better themselves.  It was always "One day when..." for me until I started focusing on my "One day win."

What Should I expect?

Staying the night with a group of guys you've never met can be intimidating.  It is for me as much as it is for you.  Each person that stays the night will have their own private bed.

Should I stay the night?  With limited availability and a little bias, YES!

The sunrise session, morning workshop, and time in nature connecting further through our
topics will be the heart of these micro retreats.

Food & Drinks

A catered meal supporting a local business will be provided.  I will connect with attendees ahead of time for dietary needs and preferences.

NA beer and mocktails has been one tool that helped me in my sobriety journey.  If you find these types of drinks triggering, please let me know.  We will have other soft drinks like soda water, tea, and coffee.

Workshops

We will have plenty of time to dive into topics around fatherhood and workshop together in small breakouts and a  large group as a whole.

My goal during our time together is to simply be real and vulnerable with each other.  No small talk.  Social status doesn't matter at these events.  I'm here to learn about your heart.

Adventure

Before ending our time together, we will immerse ourselves into nature.  Most often this will be in the form of a hike but always open to exploring new ways to connect outside.

Friendship

In a world where thumbs up likes and follower counts truly mean nothing, I aim to foster impactful relationships that last.  Not just aquantances, but my prayer for you is that you meet new friends to do life with regularly.

The Experience

Embark on a journey through the heart of an immersive experience in a short amount of time, where unforgettable moments, personal growth, and meaningful connections await.  Some will stay for the evening, some will stay for the full experience.  All dads are welcome.  Here's a glimpse into a typical time together.

Did we just become best friends?

Avoid asking questions like "What do you do for a living?"  We are gathering like-minded men to cut the small talk and dive into heart-felt conversation quick.

Evening kick-off & social time.

Welcome and opening workshop just before dinner.

Catered dinner and extended conversation from opening workshop.

We will have time to dive into the workshop topic deeper after dinner.  Workshops will be fatherhood focused around topics like better communication at home, limiting beliefs, being the leader you were called to be, loving our kids on purpose, and diving into to all the tough and the good around being a dad.

Evening session will be transitional as dinner guests head home.

Sunrise coffee.  Join me for some quiet time, bring your journal and a bible if you have one.

Breakfast and morning workshop.

Outdoor Aventure to end our time together.

Sharing my Heart

I'm a spontaneous person by nature but the the evenings will be filled with food, conversation, and opportunity to dive well beyond surface level conversations with other dads.

A game that sparks laughter may very well happen, and might be needed.  I'm not crying... you're crying.

My hope is that we put the masks aside and open up.

I'm hoping to share our hearts with each other.  What's working and not working for you in your journey of being a dad?

Generational Fathers.  We may dive into the stories of men who have come before us.

Spiritual growth.  The foundation of my faith is Jesus Christ.  I hope to share what he has done in my life and my heart from church hurt to experiencing a mirracle and the vision behind Valiant Voyages.

We will be posting up coming events often so keep checking back for ways to connect outside of these events and keep your chin up dad.  You are enough.  You are a good father.  You've got this. This trip is not psychotherapy.

The title below is misspelled on purpose.  According to Google Keyword Data, the term "How to stop porm addiction" with an M instead of N is searched almost 100k times a month in the United States.

In this video, I talk about the dangers of virtual reality and how I overcame an addiction to PORM, and one of the reasons I started Valiant Voyages.

Valiant Voyages is a place to share vulnerable stories like these...
I look forward to hearing your story soon!
